Guests praise the prime oceanfront location and pushback-friendly staff, such as Sherry and Katie, who receive high marks for service and recommendations. However, recent reviews highlight significant inconsistencies, ranging from severe room cleanliness issues to feelings of micromanagement and lackluster maintenance.
We stayed at this hotel , but unfortunately the room was very dirty. There was hair in the bathroom, garbage on the floor, food stains on the kitchen counter, and the bed sheets looked dirty like stuff on it and not properly made. The room also had a bad smell when we arrived. We tried to speak with the housekeeping manager 2 times , but they were not available when we called !!! The front desk staff were very kind and helpful, Sherry was great to welcome us , but the cleanliness of the room was not acceptable. I would not recommend this hotel, especially if you have small children who might crawl or play on the floor.
Location is wonderful. A short walk along secure path to the ocean. Rathtrevor park (one of the best in BC) is virtually next door. 5 minutes by car or 7 min by bike to downtown Parksville which has an amazing sandy beach that goes on and on. The rooms are fantastic in a variety of layouts from studio to 3 bdr. First class
This place is like heaven! From the cleanliness to the customer service, our experience was definitely a 5 * experience! We loved the view we loved the trails around, the hot tub was just a great plus to our vacations! There is woman at the lobby she was just the kindest person we’ve met, she took care of us as soon as we speak to her, she gave us the best place to go visit, she also provided us some blankets for our time around the outdoor fire place area which is gorgeous by the way! Her name was Sherry and we will definitely book here again this summer coming for our family getaway! Thank you for everything! We enjoy every moments of our stay! Paul and Fara’s family !?
We had the pleasure of staying in the Waterfront Villas @ Sunrise Ridge Resort. This is the decompression every couple needs. With cozy king size beds, spa tub, full kitchen and BBQ patio that opens up to stunning view of the Salish Sea, you will not be disappointed. Did I mention the patio has a built-in, overhead heater?! We will be booking again, and bringing the kids next time. PS. Bring your binoculars - a pair of Bald Eagles are nesting in a tree right outside the resort.
I loved my stay here. We came with a hockey group just recently, and had the best stay. The woman at the front desk in the morning was amazing, she went above and beyond in helping us and making sure we had an amazing time. I will definitely go back because of her! I really recommend staying here if you’re looking for a weekend getaway. It was also close to everything I wanted to visit.
The suite was beautiful but the cleaning staff could have paid better attention to detail. Arrived and half the dishes were in the dish washer, the body soap was empty in the shower so we had to get out of the shower and take it from the tub dispenser. The shower door was hard to keep closed tight enough to keep water from getting all over the floor. Lastly the fire place didn't produce heat or flame. Despite all of this we we enjoyed having a suite which had a nice bed, good couch and living room area. The kitchen was decent and well stocked.
A big thank you to Sherry at the front desk for going above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. She was incredibly helpful with our reservation over the phone and just as kind and welcoming when we checked in. She went out of her way to make sure we felt comfortable from the very beginning. The two-bedroom townhouses are absolutely incredible, very spacious, with everything you could need right in the room. We can’t recommend them enough and are thrilled with our stay here.
The location and rooms are fantastic, offering both comfort and convenience. The staff is incredibly friendly, and their customer service is highly responsive. Mark provided great recommendations on things to do in the area, and Sepi, the guest services manager, warmly welcomed us and was always ready to assist whenever we had a question or concern.
Had a nice stay at Sunrise Ridge. For the price, this resort offered unbeatable value. We stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath condo, which had a full kitchen and decent living room. We enjoyed using the hot tub after a long day of hiking. Parking is easy, and the suite was clean and stocked with all the essentials. We visited in March and the location was a bit far from good food options, but I understand much more is available in high season. The suite had some quirks / spots where updates would be useful (e.g., baseboards pulling away from walls, moldy caulking in shower, layout of furniture made navigating small secondary bedroom a bit challenging, etc.) but these didn't intefere with our enjoyment. Overall, we'd stay again if we found ourselves in the area.
Disappointing Experience – Wouldn’t Recommend Even before arriving, something felt “off” about this place. After booking, I received a text asking me to fill out a form with my vehicle details, upload a photo of my ID, and check off their rules—most of which were just standard industry policies. The message made it sound mandatory, but when I called to clarify, they said it was actually optional. That kind of inconsistency was unsettling. Since I had specifically booked this hotel for its outdoor hot tub, I also asked if it was open—only to be told that they empty and restart it every Sunday for maintenance. That seemed excessive, and I was already feeling like this place was overly rigid and controlling. Unfortunately, our actual stay confirmed those initial concerns. Despite it being low season and the hotel nearly empty, we were assigned a room directly above the lobby, accessed through a tiny vestibule shared with only one other room. Oddly, that room was also occupied, and the other guests seemed just as surprised and annoyed by the arrangement. The communication throughout our stay felt more like micromanagement than hospitality. Within 30 minutes of check-in, we got a text saying they hoped we were enjoying our stay—along with a reminder that check-out was at 10 AM (an hour earlier than industry standard). At 8 PM, another text notified us about items for sale in the lobby, immediately followed by yet another check-out reminder. Then at 8 AM the next morning, one more check-out text arrived, this time with an email detailing late check-out fees—priced so high they were nearly the full cost of the room. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like they couldn’t wait for us to leave. The property itself had potential, but the attention to detail was lacking. Our room’s balcony was unusable, covered in snow, and overlooked a wooden entry structure with a large pile of bird droppings in the one spot they hadn’t protected. They also advertised a designated smoking area, which we thought was a nice touch—even though neither of us smokes. But when we checked, it turned out to be nothing more than a bench in the parking lot, completely buried in snow. In a region with heavy rainfall, we expected at least a small sheltered space, but there wasn’t one. To top it all off, I later noticed an unauthorized charge on my credit card. It was only $1.05, but no business should be able to charge a card without permission. When I contacted the hotel about it, they told me that the charge was because the platform I used for booking supposedly didn’t cover that fee. However, I’ve used the same platform for over 50 bookings and have never encountered this before. At no point did the hotel acknowledge the issue or offer to refund the charge. My credit card company reimbursed me, but the hotel’s attitude about it was concerning. The only positive was that the standard room and bed were comfortable. But with the unwelcoming atmosphere, excessive messaging, lack of thoughtful upkeep, and unauthorized charge, we were relieved to have only booked for one night. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
