My family and I visit Parksville every summer, and we always like trying different resorts. This was our first time staying at Ocean Trails Resort. The location was great, and we really liked our unit. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by a middle-aged woman working at the front office. From the moment we arrived, she spoke to me in a very condescending way, as if I were stupid. The way she looked at me and treated me made me feel uncomfortable, and honestly, it came across as discriminatory. Whenever I went to the office to ask for something simple, like a garbage bag or a sponge, she immediately said, “No, we don’t have that. You have to bring your own.” Later, another staff member was kind enough to provide those items without any issue. That showed me it wasn’t about the availability—it was about the attitude. Customer service is about treating people with respect, and unfortunately, I did not feel respected during my interactions with her. I hope management addresses this issue and encourages staff to treat all guests with kindness and professionalism so that no one else has to feel the way I did.

Horrible host. Bad instructions place was not kept up was gross. Dirty shower curtain, dirty duvet with stains, ripped pillows, dirty dishes and pots and pans. Dirty windows. Hot tub needs maintenance not all jets working. Host is entitled and saying i am difficult. Look at the place...... Owner replied saying i got wrong place .. It is your place nice try!!!!.

We had a wonderful stay at Ocean Trails Resort and would absolutely return for our next family vacation to the Parksville area. We traveled as a family of five and stayed in a 3-bedroom condo, which was a perfect fit. We needed a late check-in, and the staff handled it proactively and without any fuss — the unit was clean, tidy, and ready to go when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals, and the layout worked beautifully for our family: the adults could plan the next day's activities at the table while the kids were sound asleep. The resort itself is well maintained throughout, and the atmosphere is genuinely welcoming — every staff member, resident, and fellow guest we encountered was friendly and pleasant. Beach access is easy, parking spaces are generously sized (great for larger vehicles), and the pool area is clean and well kept. Our one suggestion for improvement: some kind of delineation — whether landscaping, a low fence, or planters — between the walkways and the private patios outside each unit. It's a minor point, but we occasionally found it a little uncomfortable when passersby walked just 5–10 feet from our patio and had a direct sightline into our unit on their way to their own. A small privacy buffer would go a long way. Overall, a fantastic family-friendly resort and an easy recommendation for anyone visiting the Parksville area.

Ocean Trails Resort is still a lovely place to visit, but I was saddened to see that many of the trees have recently been removed. The area looks quite different now, with numerous stumps where mature trees once stood. I miss the natural beauty and atmosphere that those long-standing trees provided.

No confirmation communication was received. Arrived Christmas eve and needed to make phone calls to find out the unit number and also the code to access door keypad. The unit has been renovated and is visually attractive, clean and convenient. New appliances in kitchen and laundry. Location for access to the hot tub and pool is excellent. Kitchen had limited number of glasses available Couch in living room space is not comfortable for seating, though it does offer fold out sleeping space if required for families.

Great rooms with all the essentials you want for cooking and general living. Beds were decent my only criticism was the pillows were a bit lumpy for me personally. But other than that our group of 4 all had a lovely stay.

Highly recommend staying at this resort. It was perfect for a family weekend getaway with young kids. The room was clean and had everything we needed, the grounds were well maintained and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Nice little cottage/ townhouse like setting with a outdoor pool, hot tub and access to rathtrevor beach. The grounds are natural condition with goods open space for kids to run. A small playground for kids as well. The rooms are clean and well cared for.

Had another amazing stay at Ocean Trail's! Love the location, the access to the beach, how kid friendly the resort is. The rooms were clean and we felt comfortable the. moment we arrived. There's plenty of towels and clean sheets. The kids love the pool and hot tub. The landscaping is very well kept and looks beautiful. I loved seeing other families enjoying themselves and having a great summer vacation. Looking forward to coming back!

By far the best hotel we’ve stayed at with family! The units were incredibly spacious—more like a condo than a hotel. We had a full kitchen, in-suite laundry, and plenty of room to relax. The resort has everything you could ask for: a big pool, hot tub, kids’ playground, tennis courts, beach access—you name it! The property itself is beautiful and there’s so much open space for kids to run around and play. If you’re planning a trip to Parksville, this resort is a must-visit!
